Oh goodness, I remember I was disoriented my first day here as well. I've been residing here for about six months now.

Odd is a good word for it, though I might say really tense? Is also a good phrase?

That's awful, they just shot you out? It was different for our group. We had assistance in relocation.

Yes, tense is certainly a good word for it. This and the other country seem to be quite at odds with one another and tensions seem to be bubbling up further.
