[Miles certainly doesn't mind the silence. He was a man of few words himself after all. He walked alongside the young man through the winding alleyways of their new home.]
Those are very good questions. Some of them I would very much like to find the answers to myself. There must be a reason that we're here trying to assimilate. I wonder if it has something to do with this Storm?
You think the orbiters sent us here to do something specific?
[Riku hadn't actually considered that – he's a little curious about this world, but overall would much rather like to focus at the Storm and how to stop it.]
But yes, it is. Just thinking about the number of worlds that have been lost…
Possibly, I believe that everyone has a reason for doing something. Rescuing refugees and all of this effort keeping us alive must have some greater motivation to it all.
I don't think anyone is motivated by altruism alone.
[Miles didn't quite like focusing on what was lost. It was something he was decidedly not thinking about for the time being. Best to focus on the future and what can be done.]
I suppose the main thing is for us to get our bearings and then decide what the next move is. Perhaps gather as much information as we can in the meantime.
[There is a moment of quiet until Riku replies, a second of thought spent on running through whatever possibility he can imagine... It's definitely more productive than wasting his thoughts on things he can't recover right now. However he turns this in his head though, he doesn't like what he's coming up with, not at all.]
So, they are expecting something of us… or just trying to distract us.
[Which seems to be working, if the first look he got of the Network means anything.]
Sounds about right. There isn't much we can do until we know more.
[They don't have any way of finding out anything and it bothers Riku to no end. Whatever the Natha want them to do… the best they have is speculation.]
Well, I guess there'll be enough chance for that at least. From what I heard, we are allowed to work with and for the locals.
[Don't mind the fact that Miles sideglanced over to the badge momentarily. He wasn't going to give any sort of outright judgment. For all, he knew the badges were full of shit.]
A pomeranian actually. But I must admit I have a fondness for all dogs.
I have no idea what a pomeranian is. Unless it's very rare, I don't believe the breed exists where I come from.
[Although everything on Tarrlok's is filled with unflattering truths, he's wondering if everything on everyone's is the same, or if some of them have partial or twisted truths on them instead. Either way, he's less than amused with the nametag and glad that the other fellow is polite enough to ignore what's on it.]
Polar bear dogs are quite popular up north where I was born, but in the city I moved to, they're far less common.
Ah, that makes sense seeing as many of us are from different places. A Pomeranian is a small fluffy dog that is in the Spitz family. They have a small pointed face and can be quite chatty,
My own pet Pess, used to bark and chat with everyone when we went out.
[Polar bear dogs?! What on earth were those? He could only imagine a giant white fluffy mastiff or some such dog.]

It is all rather disconcerting, isn't it?

[He shook his head slightly as he spoke. He hated being in the sort of situation where he didn't quite know what was at stake.]
Precisely that. I would love to learn as much as I can about the culture of Olympia so that I may assimilate easier.

Is it cold where you are from?
